BSU announced as finalist in three categories in major local awards
Friday, 25 April, 2025Bath Spa University is proud to have been selected as a finalist in three categories at this year’s Creative Bath Awards.
Named as finalists in the Creative Arts, Creativity for Good and Marketing Campaign categories, this selection showcases BSU’s ethos for professional creativity in all areas of the institution.
The Creative Bath Awards are an annual award ceremony shining a spotlight on the best and most successful creative, cultural and tech organisations and individuals based in Bath. Members of BSU’s staff, student and alumni community have been recognised at the event for a number of years, with this year proving no different.
Selection in the Creative Arts and Creativity for Good categories is a recognition of BSU’s passion for social inclusion, as well as a firm acknowledgement of how the University aims to support those who would not normally have access to higher education.
With projects in the local community, including areas such as Radstock and Twerton, BSU is continually committed to providing aspirational learning spaces to the people of Bath and beyond.
Widening participation is part of Bath Spa University’s core values and community skills training and educational partnerships are just a few of the ways we are reaching those learners who are traditionally underrepresented in higher education.
BSU’s 2024 Home From Home festive film stands as the reason behind selection as a finalist for the Marketing Campaign category at this year’s Creative Bath Awards.
Designed to combat loneliness and showcase the power of the student community, the Home From Home campaign consisted of a short film and accompanying social media competition, all of which served as a reminder of the BSU community during the festive season.
The film not only showcases BSU and the wonderful community ready to welcome prospective students, but it is also a love letter to the city, taking viewers into the beating heart of Bath’s Christmas Market and showcasing the city at its very best.
BSU is also proud of students Elizabeth Royle, Harvey Aylmer and Louise Aubrey, who have all been selected as finalists in the Creative Student category. Louise has also been chosen as a finalists in the Product Design and Creation category.
Reacting to the news of being selected as a finalist in three major categories, Lucy Stone Head of Communications and Brand Development said:
“We are delighted to have been shortlisted as finalists in three categories at this year’s Creative Bath Awards which really showcase the very best in creative talent in our City and surrounding area. The nominations reflect the wide range of professional creativity in the work and projects at BSU from our marketing and communications’ campaigns through to our work in the community and beyond."
Inclusive Communities Officer Ruby Sant also added:
"BSU supports the growth of community led creative spaces such as Creative Twerton and Old Printworks arts in Radstock, providing free access to studio space for 30 local low-income artists each year as well as free open access high quality creative learning for over 150 local people. We are very proud of the hard work we put in behind the scenes to support artists and arts organisations across the region."
Making the evening extra special is the fact that BSU third year Product and Furniture Design student Elias Rawles will be designing the very awards handed out on the night. An annual tradition that provides students with a chance to react to a live brief, Elias’ specially crafted awards will become the ultimate prize at the ceremony on 21 May.
