Newbridge Arts Trail returns to Bath for its 15th year
Thursday, 15 May, 2025Bath’s much-loved Newbridge Arts Trail returns this month, bringing together a vibrant mix of professional and local artists for a community-focused celebration of creativity.
Marking its 15th year, the trail has become a staple event in Bath’s calendar, joining a collection of nine trails across the city and inviting thousands of visitors to explore local talent through open studios, exhibitions, and pop-up venues over one weekend.
Participating locations include private homes as well as public venues like Weston Methodist Church Hall, Newbridge Primary School, and The Locksbrook Inn. This year, a fold out map was designed, printed and distributed to every household and business in Newbridge and parts of Weston to help guide attendees through the event.
Organised entirely by volunteers, the Newbridge Arts Trail continues to thrive thanks to the dedication of organisers and the enthusiastic support of the community. The trail is an opportunity for painters, printmakers, ceramicists, jewellers, illustrators, photographers and graphic designers to showcase and sell their work at affordable prices.
Among the featured participants are Bath Spa University alumni and, in a significant development for 2025, the University has opened its Locksbrook Campus for the weekend to exhibit student coursework and temporary exhibitions. This pilot collaboration allows the public to explore the University’s vibrant Art and Design campus and get a taste for the breadth of talent at BSU.
Co-organiser, Philip Jansseune said:
“We are very happy to be back for the 15th Newbridge Arts Trail and are delighted that BSU has come on board for the first time with a selection of its own exhibitors and displays. We hope that next year some of our artists can exhibit in the BSU galleries, alongside our regular public and private venues.”
Artists will be taking part in a pop-up group exhibition at Emmanuel Church on Apsley Road on Saturday 17 May from 10.30 am – 5 pm. This gives visitors a chance to get a taste of the Trail in one venue.
The Trail starts Saturday 17 May at 10.30 am and runs through to Sunday 18 May. Find out more about the Trail and how to get involved on the Newbridge Arts Trail website.
