Showcasing the achievements of BSU’s Art and Design students at the Undergraduate Degree Show 2025
Thursday, 29 May, 2025It’s that time again – the BSU calendar is kicking into high gear as we edge towards the end of the academic year.
One of the most highly anticipated dates is the annual Undergraduate Degree Show, where students from the University’s Art and Design courses have the opportunity to showcase their final projects to the public.
Held at BSU’s Locksbrook Campus, the space is set to transform into a vibrant, accessible hub of creativity, bridging the gap between the University and the wider community with visitors immersing themselves in work from the emerging artists and designers of the future. For many, this will be the first time they are exhibiting work to the public, for others, it's a stepping stone to exciting career progression opportunities.
The event will spotlight the very best work from BSU’s graduating students, with an eclectic range of creative pieces on display. Exhibiting courses include, Architecture, Creative Arts Practice, Fashion Design, Fashion Photography, Film, Television and Digital Production, Fine Art, Graphic Communication/Design, Interior Design, Photography, Product and Furniture Design and Textile Design.
Natasha Kidd, Associate Vice-Provost, supported this year’s show. Describing the importance of the annual event, she said:
"I am delighted to have supported this year’s Degree Show organisation, but the real people to celebrate are the professional services staff, the academic course teams and the graduating students who work tirelessly to present their work and transform the building into an exhibition space open to the public.
“The degree show is the time when the campus opens up to the public and we see evidence that the work the graduates have developed has relevance and value to the world beyond the university walls.”
She continued:
“It is a crucial time to celebrate our future artists and designers as we see access to creative education shrinking, yet we know that these graduates will play a critical role in creating places and spaces we want to live in. The shows offer a unique opportunity for visitors to navigate, explore and immerse themselves in the work, thinking and making of a cohort of emerging artists and designers of the future - come and see."
The show starts on 14 June and runs until 21 June, with a private view held on 13 June from 6 pm – 9 pm. Entry is free, with the showcase open each day from 10 am – 6 pm.
In addition to the Degree show, for the first time ever, Locksbrook is taking things one step further. Introducing Locksbrook Unlocked: Making, Thinking and Doing Together, BSU is building on the momentum of the Degree Show by introducing a dynamic week of talks, events, and introductory short courses alongside the exhibition. Open to the public, these courses offer an exciting opportunity to learn new skills whilst working hands-on in Locksbrook’s fully equipped workshops.
