Personal statement
Dominic occupies an uncommon position for a university careers service, taking a specialist seat to focus on digital content and student engagement. The two frequently overlap and inform one another in the multimedia marketing strategy he helped create, resulting in a successful annual timetable of showing off the Careers service’s initiatives to students through e-mail, social media, digital signage and the BSU app.
Further engagement opportunities come through University wide collaborations with other teams – especially Student Communications, Students’ Union, and Web colleagues – and assisting his fellow Careers teammates with their own internal communication efforts and development of curriculum-enhancing materials on Microsoft SharePoint.
In addition to this, Dominic works on the branding and identity of the Careers service and how the service visually communicates its initiatives and career readiness principles of Explore, Experience, Progress.
Dominic’s digital content skills are widely used in the constant pursuit of reviewing Careers’ student resource packages and advice articles. He created an informal house style to meet the needs and tastes of BSU’s Gen Z audience, and copyedits content to represent a unified, approachable service. He was pleased to be selected as a speaker at the 2023 ASET Conference on tailoring CEIAG content for the Gen Z audience on social media.
