Personal statement

Jane is a Senior Lecturer on the School-Centred Initial Teacher Training (SCITT) PGCE programme at BSU, with a special interest in Early Years and Primary Education. Before joining BSU in 2022, Jane enjoyed a varied teaching career in schools in Hampshire for the past 25 years. Her roles have included Class Teacher, NQT Mentor, Supply Teacher, NVQ Lecturer and Assessor, Governor and Headteacher.

Jane is currently studying part-time for a PhD, where her interests are in exploring teachers’ research use and how this knowledge is shared in Professional Learning Networks and is a Governor of an infant school in Hampshire.

Jane has worked as a Research Assistant on several funded projects, including Using Research Learning Communities to improve the outcomes of looked after children (2021-2022) funded by What Works for Children’s Social Care, and Evidence Informed Practice for School Inclusion (2021-2023) funded by Erasmus+. Most recently Jane was involved in writing an impact report for the Next Big 10 project facilitated by Big Education (2022-2024). Jane is also involved in peer review for Quality Education for All and International Journal of Educational Management journals.
