Personal statement

Martin is a Link Tutor with specific responsibility for ESL and William College educational partners. He previously worked at Southampton Solent University for over 30 years, in a variety of roles including Principal Lecturer, Head of School of Applied Health and Life Sciences, Head of Sport Science and Performance and as the Strategic Lead for Learning and Teaching in the Faculty of Sport, Health and Social Sciences.

Alongside these roles he was also an External Quality Assurer and Technical Evaluator in the fitness industry, winning the ukactive Flame Award for Workplace Wellbeing for 3 years in a row. He left Solent in 2022 after coordinating the development, implementation and quality assurance of the university's Transformation Academy during the Covid-19 pandemic.

He is an experienced External Examiner and regularly contributes to external validation events at HEIs across the sector. More recently he was employed as an Associate Dean at Global Banking School, with a specific focus on Assessment and Quality Assurance, before taking a break to care for his parents prior to taking up his current position at BSU.
