Personal statement
Milenne is a Lecturer in 3D Modelling Game Art Extended Realities (XR) at Bath Spa University, a role she began in February 2024. Based at the Bath School of Design's Newton Park Campus, she teaches within the Creative Computing Department in the Games Development and Computing program.
Her subjects include Games Development, Augmented and Virtual Reality, with specific modules on 3D Game Art, 2D Game Art, Extended Realities, and Web 3D. Her focus is on fostering student achievement, building confidence, and helping them connect their creative careers to positive outcomes for society and the planet.
Before joining Bath Spa University, Milenne transitioned into education in 2021, becoming a lecturer and course leader in Games Development at Fareham College, where she integrated sustainability into the games curriculum.
Prior to this, she expanded into augmented reality, developing AR campaigns for exhibitions and enhancing training through gamification, while also exploring digital fashion due to her growing interest in sustainability.
Earlier, Milenne founded a 3D visualisation business, where her visualisations were instrumental in securing miles of new cycle lanes for the London Cycling Campaign. She also designed the "Safer Lorry, Safer London" vehicle for a campaign reaching the European Parliament and worked with the Department for Transport on cycling projects.
She spent four years in the DVD industry, designing 3D interactive DVDs for major clients including the BBC, Warner Bros, and Pathé Films, notably working on the DVD for the film Memento, which won a BAFTA Interactive Award.
Her career also included working in visual effects for films such as The Chronicles of Narnia and Prince Caspian after returning to London.
Before that, she created some of the first online VR experiences for museums in Spain, including interactive VR exhibitions for the Salon de Reinos in Madrid, the Wax Museum, and the Chocolate Museum in Barcelona.
Milenne began her career in the UK, working on interactive 3D experiences, following her Master’s Degree in 3D Animation and Visualisation from Bournemouth University.
Throughout her diverse career, Milenne has maintained a strong commitment to sustainability, consistently integrating sustainable practices to create a lasting, positive impact through digital solutions. Her expertise encompasses 2D Game Art, 3D Games Art, and Extended Realities.
Current Research Project: Eco-Explorers Game
Milenne is the Project Lead for the Eco-Explorers game, a significant current research and development initiative . This project leverages digital games as an adaptive gaming platform for young people, with the core aim of raising awareness of environmental issues around coastal resilience in Somerset. The game presents players with real-world coastal scenarios to learn about key regional issues, and a key challenge is representing scientific and ecological knowledge in an engaging way.
