Personal statement

Dr Siddhartha Bose is a Lecturer in Creative Writing with a focus on poetry at Bath Spa University. His own work focuses on cities and global migration while exploring linguistic and formal innovation through interdisciplinary perspectives. Sid is also interested in nature writing.

His books include two poetry collections, a play, and a literary study of the grotesque in 19th century literature and philosophy. His work has been featured on BBC Radio (Radio 3, Radio London, Asian Network), BBC 4 (TV), The Guardian, The Conversation, and The Times, among others.

His poetry has been featured internationally in anthologies including 'Voice Recognition: 21 Poets for the 21st Century' (Bloodaxe, 2009, UK), and he has read and performed his work at Latitude, the British Council Showcase, and in Europe and the USA.

His theatre work includes four shows that were performed at Southbank Centre (London), Edinburgh Festival Fringe, Brighton Festival, The Yard Theatre (London), and Norwich and Norfolk Festival among others, and were supported by grants from the Arts Council England and the Leverhulme Trust.

He has guest-edited the leading literary journal Wasafiri (Routledge) on international urban writing, and is currently working on his first novel, a draft of which was selected as one of five novels from the UK/Europe considered for the final shortlist of the Fitzcarraldo Novel Prize 2022. Sid is represented by David Godwin Associates, London.
