Crime Scene Lab
A purpose-built lab designed to replicate a real-life crime scene.
Located on our Newton Park campus, the Crime Scene Lab features a full-scale mock-up of an open-plan kitchen and living room.
It's equipped to mimic the scene of a real-life crime, providing a controlled environment to practise critical evidence identification, documentation and recovery techniques.
By simulating real life scenarios, students can gain practical experience in applying standard forensic protocols such as evidence collection, blood pattern analysis and DNA testing.
A variety of crime scene conditions can be replicated in the lab. Depending on the setup, you may find broken glass, blood splatter and broken furniture. Evidence may include blood, finger marks, footwear marks, hair, fibres and bodily fluids.
This immersive environment blends academic instruction with real-world scenario-based training, equipping our Forensic Science and Criminology graduates with the crucial skills and confidence they need to excel in their future careers.
