International Travel Fund
Broaden your horizons with international travel that supports your future career in 2025/26.
The International Travel Fund is currently available for 2025/26.
Are you hoping to embark on an international travel placement or study trip abroad during 2025/26? If so, you could be eligible for up to £650 of funding to make your travel plans a reality.
Criteria
To be eligible for the Bath Spa University International Travel Fund, you must meet the following criteria.
- You must be a Bath Spa University student studying at either Newton Park, Sion Hill, Locksbrook, Corsham Court or BSU London (Hackney). Students studying at our Educational Partner institutes or other providers and students on exchange programmes, distance learning or other modes of study are not eligible.
- You must be a current, registered student both at the time of application and at the time the international trip takes place.
Applicants in receipt of other university travel awards are not eligible.
Funds must be used to support a study trip or work placement abroad, which will go beyond your studies at BSU and have a direct impact on your future career and employability. The Fund is not intended to pay towards assessed and/or compulsory elements of a student’s degree course or course field trips. Please ensure that you read the Fund Terms and Conditions before applying.
The proposed travel should not begin within six weeks of your chosen application deadline – see Application deadline section below – and must complete by 31 August 2026 (or before graduating if you’re in your final year).
Applications for retrospective funding will not be considered. This is a competitive scheme with limited funds available, therefore, not all applications will be successful.
Please see our terms and conditions for further details.
Application deadlines
Applications will open in late September/early October. There is a rolling deadline of the 1st of the month. Applications will close once funds are depleted or at 9am on 1 July 2026 , whichever occurs first.
Please be aware that this is a shared application process with BSU’s Global Horizons Award and Turing Global Placement Scheme.
Applicants indicate their preferred fund when applying but will be assessed for all. If successful, only the most appropriate fund will be offered.
How to apply
Please apply by using the online application form in AppHub (student login required). Select the 'Scholarship Applications' menu, then choose ‘BSU funds for International Travel’ from the Add Application drop down menu.
We recommend you access the application form in advance to check what is needed. Applicants should be aware that the application requirements include:
- A named referee - This must be your BSU tutor, course leader or other appropriate BSU staff member who can act as a referee to support your application. Before applying, you should discuss your plans with them and seek their agreement to act as your referee.
- A supporting statement – In approx. 500 words, you should include a statement that describes what activities you will be undertaking during the trip and how these will benefit your current studies and future career plans.
- Supporting documentation – Evidence to support the costs outlined in your application must should be added to the online application as attachments.
Refer to the application guidance for advice and information on how to complete the form.
Please ensure that you read the Fund Terms and Conditions and that all sections of the form are fully completed before submission.
How applications are judged
Applications will be assessed and successful applicants will be selected by the Travel Awards panel. The panel will typically meet within two weeks of each monthly deadline and applicants should expect to hear an outcome within six weeks of their chosen application deadline.
If you're successful, a coordinator from the applicable fund team will liaise with you to progress your award and provide further instructions.
