Security remains available 24/7 at Newton Park, either in person at the security office or via +44 (0)1225 875555 (external), 5555 (internal) and bathspasecurity@bathspa.ac.uk.
Facilities
Facilities such as the post room and catering outlets will be closed for the period 24 December - 5 January 2026 but the vending machines in Commons will be accessible and deliveries will be via Security.
The following buildings at Newton Park Campus will remain open for use:
- Commons – ground floor only (open 8am to 11.59pm)
- Langton Laundry
- Sophia Laundry
The Uni buses (U3 and U4) will move to a reduced ‘holiday timetable’ from 14 December 2025 to 12 January 2026. Please note: the U5 only operates in term time.
Different routes have different holiday timetables, so best to check for the most up-to-date information on the First Bus website.
For students at BSUL Hackney
- The BSUL Hackney campus will be closed from Monday 22 December - Sunday 4 January
- The Digital Resource Centre (DRC) will be closed in line with campus closures
- On Monday 5 January 2026 the site will reopen and staff services will then be available from 9am - 5pm and will continue with the usual term time schedule
- Staff services will be available online from 9am - 5pm on Monday 22 and Tuesday 23 December 2025.
- Students can seek information via MyServices for support
For students at BSUL Canary Wharf
- The BSUL Canary Wharf campus will be closed from Monday 22 December - Monday 5 January
- The Learning Resource Centre (LRC) will be closed in line with campus closures.
- However, remote support will be available on Monday 22 and Tuesday 23 December and will resume on Saturday 3 and Sunday 4 January
- Students can seek information via MyServices for support
Emergency contacts
In the event of an emergency, call 999. Don’t be afraid to call 999, and don’t assume that someone else has already called.
If you’re unsure whether it’s an emergency, it’s better to be safe than sorry. You should always call 999 if someone is seriously ill or injured, or their life is at risk.
When you dial 999, an operator will ask you which service you require. If you need to call 999 but talking on the phone will put you or others at further risk, you can make a silent call.
Urgent medical problem? Not sure what to do? Call 111 for medical advice – it’s free from mobiles and landlines.
This service is available 24 hours a day, seven days a week. You can also visit NHS 111 online.

Student Wellbeing Services
- Students can use the Student Wellbeing Helpline 24/7 365 days a year by calling +44 (0)800 028 3766. They can also download the Wisdom app with code MHA173635 and make video calls or chat messages.
- The Medical Service on campus will close on 19 December and re-open 12 January. Fairfield Park Health Centre is open 8am-6pm Monday to Friday, and will be closed Christmas Day, Boxing Day and New Years Day. They have walk in and wait surgery on these days 8am-10.30am which is limited only by capacity, otherwise routine appointments will also be available.
What do I do if I feel unwell?
If you feel unwell, please call the health centre you are registered with. Alternatively, you can contact NHS 111 to speak to a medical practitioner, or in an emergency call 999.

- The Student Information team will be available to contact via MyServices or on 01225 876115 up until and including Tuesday 23 December. The team will then be available to contact after the Winter break from Monday 5 January 2026.
Your Academic Advisor and Module Tutors availability may vary over the Winter Break depending on annual leave, but you can reach the Academic Advisors Office on academicadvisorsoffice@bathspa.ac.uk during the Winter Break aside from when the University is closed between 24 December - 5 January 2026.
Please note the Academic Advisors office will not be able to help with queries about assignments.

- Please also note if you're away from Bath and need to see a doctor at home, then only Temporarily Register with an alternative GP Practice. If you're fully registered at a home address this will mean being automatically removed from Fairfield’s list.
- It's also a great idea to register with the Medical Service at BSU if you haven't already, especially during the winter months when illnesses are more common. You can do this through the Fairfield Park Health Centre website.
- The Accommodation Team will be unavailable between Wednesday 24 December 2025 and Sunday 4 January 2026 and will not be able to respond to emails, phone calls and appointments during this time. The team will look to respond to your query at the earliest opportunity once staff return to work on 5 January 2026.
- Students can visit and speak with our team in-person again when the Student Hub re-opens on Monday 5 January 2026, between 1pm and 4pm.
- If you plan to live in halls at any time over the Winter Break and require urgent assistance, please contact Security staff – they are always available, 24 hours a day, to deal with anything you need help with. Their team can be contacted by calling +44 (0)1225 87 5555, or visited in person at the Steward’s Lodge at Newton Park (opposite the Library bus stop).
The IT Service Desk will be closed for in-person visits from Wednesday 24 December 2025 and will reopen on Monday 5 January 2026.

The Newton Park Library will be closed from Wednesday 24 December 2025 and will reopen at 9am on Monday 5 January 2026.
From Saturday 20 December until Tuesday 23 December and from Monday 5 January until Sunday 11 January, the Library will be open from 9 am until 5pm. All Library Services will be available, including Subject Librarian support.

The Locksbrook Library Hub will be closed from Monday 22 December until 9am on Monday 5 January when normal hours will resume.
Need help over the break?
Our 24/7 Online Chat service will still be available throughout the winter break for quick questions, basic support, and help finding resources.
Digital Library resources are available 24/7, every day of the year via the Library website.
Academic Skills appointments will be available online and in-person from 22 December to 23 December and again from 5-9 January. You can book an appointment with an advisor throughout this period for help and feedback on your assignments. For more information and to book, visit their webpage.
English Language Unit appointments are available online or in-person until Friday 19 December and again from Monday 5 January 2026. (We are closed Monday 22 December – Friday 2 January.) Book an appointment by emailing elu@bathspa.ac.uk.
All catering outlets will close on Friday 19 December, excluding Cafe Commons and The General Store which will remain open on 22 and 23 December from 8am - 3.30/4pm
Will I be able to get takeaways and home deliveries?
There are a variety of supermarkets that offer online delivery services. Delivery slots are available to pre-book, although you may not be able to book one immediately, so allow up to a week to find a suitable delivery slot.
There are apps available such as Deliveroo and Just Eat that can provide takeaway services and you can find information on which local businesses have been offering takeaway services in Bath.
The Physical Careers Space will be closed Thursday 18 December until Monday 5 January. But not to worry, you can still find us online!
- There'll be a limited number of careers appointments available. Please check MyCareer. Here you can also find our online resources such as CV help, interview prep, and more.
- You can also still get in touch by using the "Questions" option on MyCareer, though there may be a delay in responses from the team until after the Winter Break.
- Reception will close at 4:30pm Friday 19 December and reopen 10am Monday 12 January.
- The Barn will close on Friday 19 December and reopen 12pm Monday 12 January.
- The Gym will close 9pm Wednesday 23 December and reopen 7am Monday 5 January.
- The Advice Centre will close 5pm Friday 19 December and reopen 9am Monday 12 January.
In collaboration with the SU, Bath Spa’s Sustainability Team are hosting a Sustainable Crafts session where you can make sustainable and beautiful Christmas decorations!
Keep them for yourself or gift them to a loved one. The session is free and open to all. Join us on Tuesday 2 December in the Nook at the SU from 2pm-7pm. Drop by any time to revamp baubles, make wall decorations find sustainable recipes and more.
The Asset Store will close at 3pm on Friday 19 December for the winter break and reopen again on Monday 5 January.
