Bath Spa University recognised as the UK’s only Adobe Creative Campus Innovator

Thursday, 28 August, 2025

BSU has been recognised as one of nine global Adobe Creative Campus Innovators – and the only one in the UK. Creative Campus Innovators are standout universities selected by Adobe that are leading the way in engaging students with Adobe’s creativity, productivity, and AI tools across disciplines.

In a blog post on the Adobe website announcing the new Innovators, it said:

“These innovators go beyond integrating Adobe tools. They are setting new standards for engaging students through inclusive, scalable programs that foster creative confidence, career readiness, and standout visual portfolios that showcase the skills employers need. The programs these institutions have pioneered are leading to better grades and driving higher student retention.”

BSU was noted for delivering on the University’s strategy to nurture professionally creative graduates by embedding Adobe tools across academic and administrative departments and into the curriculum through the institution's Adobe Creative Advocates program.

Rachael Johnson-Duval, Chief Information Officer at BSU, said:

“I am delighted that BSU has been named an Adobe Creative Campus Innovator and especially that we are the only university in the UK to receive this accolade. This is something we can be incredibly proud of as a real-world embodiment of our ambitions in professional creativity, our passion and our collaborative culture.”

Professor Helen King, Director of Learning Innovation, Development and Skills said:

“Creativity, curiosity and collaboration are key features of our BSU culture, hence we embraced being an Adobe Creative Campus, and the opportunities that afforded, from the outset. We are delighted that the innovative work of our staff and students has been recognised by Adobe and we look forward to continuing our adventure together."

As part of the University’s Innovator status, BSU has successfully bid for £40,000 of funding to support the following initiatives in the 2025/26 academic year:

  • Expanding the Adobe Creative Advocacy initiative with additional "Authentic Assessment" advocates in each of its 8 academic schools, focusing on using Adobe tools to support authentic, work-related assessments such as live briefs.
  • Supporting students to provide a pro bono design and Adobe Express training service to charities through BSU's new Juno House student agency.
  • Evaluating these initiatives to quantify the impact of being an Adobe Creative Campus on student experience and success.

BSU became one of the UK’s first Adobe Creative Campuses in 2022. Since then, the BSU community has taken advantage of the full Adobe Creative Suite to complete projects, help bring their creative ideas to life and make their day-to-day work a bit easier.
