Wednesday, 24 September, 2025

Graduating is always a cause for celebration, watching students receive their degrees and enjoying achievements amongst family and friends. This September saw some of our students enjoying their graduation day as BSU’s Vice-Chancellor Professor Georgina Andrews attended the event.

BSU is proud to be partnered with education providers in the UK and overseas, including Future Education World based in Ras Al Khaimah, UAE. Together delivering courses that are designed, assessed, quality assured and awarded by BSU at Bath Spa University Academic Centre RAK. It was the first time that Professor Andrews was part of their graduation ceremony in her role as Vice-Chancellor, visiting the centre with fellow colleagues Dr. Nasir Salari, Nilashis Ghosh and Charlotte Moroney.

The ceremony spanned both Undergraduate and Master’s courses, with over 300 graduates in attendance. Colleagues and students were delighted to welcome Professor Andrews, as she had the honour of conferring degrees, recognising the hard work of individual students, and bestowing awards for programmes completed in partnership with BSU. As she commented in her speech:

“You have worked hard to achieve your success, and you deserve to celebrate today”

The emphasis on community throughout the celebrations was a testament to the relationships within and beyond Bath Spa University Academic Centre RAK. Alberto Leonardo Cuvelo, Mozambique Ambassador to the UAE and Consul General Marford M. Angeles, Consul General of the Philippine Consulate General in Dubai, were both in attendance and shared heartfelt special messages during the presentation.

BSU staff also celebrated the Pathway Programme ceremony in which over 600 students graduated who study at pathway sites across UAE. These graduates often progress to their next level of study at Bath Spa University Academic Centre RAK and it was lovely to see them potentially joining the Bath Spa community.

Recognition for students' achievements were evident throughout with it being shared if students were student ambassadors, leadership awardee or academic excellence awardee. Those graduating at Master's level, future jobs and company names were also shared. Educational Partnerships Strategy Support Officer Charlotte Moroney reflected on the event:

“Such positive celebrations, which were well planned and attended. It was evident that colleagues had worked hard to ensure the celebrations were so successful. It was a privilege to be part of the celebrations, especially as Future Education World are such a valued partner of BSU and has been for over 10 years."

She continued:

"Congratulations to all students who have graduated through study at Bath Spa University Academic Centre RAK, the sense of community, support and achievement was evident throughout the celebrations.”
