Bath Spa University appoints Leonie Fleming as next Chair of the Board of Governors

Bath Spa University is pleased to announce the appointment of Leonie Fleming as its next Chair of the Board of Governors, effective 1 August 2026. Leonie will succeed BSU’s current Chair Jonathan Glasspool, whose term of office ends on 31 July after ten years of distinguished service on the Board.

As Chair, Leonie will lead the Board of Governors in the effective oversight of the University’s affairs. Leonie brings a wealth of experience to the role. In addition to serving as an Independent Governor at Bath Spa University since 2024, she has held various senior executive roles in financial services, and as a General Counsel has led domestic and international teams and overseen a wide range of complex governance and strategic matters.  

The University's incoming Chair is also a Non-Executive Director at BBRC, a social enterprise which invests in real estate, infrastructure and business to deliver strong social, economic and environmental outcomes supporting a flourishing and diverse regional economy.

Remaining in office until 31 July 2026, current Chair, Jonathan Glasspool, has served for a decade, bringing significant experience from his career as a senior executive in the publishing industry, and from across his broad non-executive portfolio.

Leonie Fleming’s expertise in strategic leadership, effective governance and social enterprise aligns closely with Bath Spa University’s mission.
