Interior Design receives SBID accreditation

BA (Hons) Interior Design achieves prestigious industry accreditation

Bath Spa University’s BA (Hons) Interior Design degree has been awarded a highly-respected accreditation from the Society of British and International Interior Design (SBID), the leading professional awarding body for Interior Design in the UK. This is the culmination of many years of hard work and is an exciting milestone for both the Bath School of Design and the Interior Design programme at BSU. 

The SBID offers accreditation to select university courses that demonstrate strong, practice-focused teaching. This accreditation not only recognises the quality and industry relevance of BSU’s Interior Design programme, but also highlights the care put into preparing students for real‑world design practice. As the largest British professional interior design body that consults both with the UK Government and interior design firms, the SBID are the leading voice on what defines a successful and impactful interior design education. 

Joining the SBID not only marks BSU’s Interior Design course as being above that of its peers, but further grants students studying at BSU access to an extensive industry network of mentors, employers and experts even after they graduate.  

This recognition also reflects the heart of the teaching on the Interior Design course: a commitment to providing students with an interior design education that is ethical, sustainable, inclusive, and prepares them for the future. Students learn to design with people, cultures, and the environment in mind, embedding wellbeing, research-led approaches and community engagement in everything they do.  

Talking about the accreditation, BA (Hons) Interior Design Programme Leader Nancy Bakopoulou said:
