Student Money Week 2026

Wednesday, 4 March, 2026

This week it is National Student Money Week, and Bath Spa University is helping to promote financial literacy among students. Organised by the National Association of Student Money Advisors (NASMA), the week is designed to provide students with advice on how to best manage their finances, through normalising speaking about money, and teaching students' financial skills that will last long after they’ve graduated.

What’s on at BSU

This year BSU has partnered with Blackbullion, a financial wellbeing platform, who are giving students the opportunity to win daily cash prizes, boost employability skills, and check their Financial Wellbeing Score.

BSU undergraduate and postgraduate students will have the chance of winning £50 every day throughout National Student Money Week, by completing the Career Blueprint learning package and completing their Financial Wellbeing Score (FWS), through the Blackbullion website

BSU are also running two pop-up events throughout National Student Money Week, at both Newton Park and Locksbrook Campus, with chances to speak to the Finance, Student Wellbeing Services, and Careers teams. Free giveaways and hot drinks will be available at both events, and students can pick up resources and find out the support available. The events will be taking place on Tuesday 3 March in the Commons Atrium at Newton Park from 10am-2pm, and Thursday 5 March on The Street at Locksbrook from 10am-2pm.

Free things to do in Bath

Bath is a wonderful city to live in, and not everything has to come at a cost. Students can take advantage of experiencing Bath, through either visiting places for free, or at a discounted cost.

The Bath Abbey

At the heart of Bath, The Abbey is a great place to visit, founded in the 7th century and rebuilt in the 12th and 16th centuries, it is known for its fan-vaulted ceiling and large stained-glass windows. It serves as an active place of worship and a popular tourist attraction, reflecting centuries of religious, architectural, and cultural history.

Students living in a BA1 or BA2 postcode can enter the Abbey for free, by providing proof of address.

Topping & Company Booksellers

Located round the corner from the Bath Abbey, Topping’s offers a wide and carefully curated range of fiction, non-fiction, children’s titles, signed editions and rare books, alongside a welcoming atmosphere where you can browse with complimentary tea or coffee. The shop also hosts regular author events, readings and literary discussions, making it a vibrant hub for book lovers in the city.

Parade Gardens

Found in the heart of the city and sitting by the River Avon with lovely views of Pulteney Bridge and the weir, the Parade Gardens is known for its lawns, vibrant flower beds and summer bedding displays. The gardens also feature a bandstand and café and host events throughout the year, making it a favourite spot for both locals and visitors.
