Personal statement
Isik is a Senior Lecturer in Accounting and Finance, and the Accounting Pathway Lead, overseeing the accounting pathway. He teaches both undergraduate and postgraduate modules in Financial Accounting, Management Accounting, and Corporate Financial Management. In addition, Isik serves as a link tutor for Future Education World, a partner institution in the UAE, further strengthening international academic partnerships.
In addition to his teaching, Isik is an active quantitative researcher in Accounting and Finance. He has successfully managed several key projects, including the Seed Funding competition for the 2024-2025 academic year, which focuses on developing innovative pedagogic approaches in PRME (Principles for Responsible Management Education), integrating Finance and Law for responsible business leadership. He also secured funding for the Connect4Innovation: UK-Turkey Higher Education Institutional Partnership Fund in 2021-2022, with a budget of £50,000, and coordinated a European Union-funded Lifelong Learning Programme project in 2016-2017, with a budget of £230,000.
Isik has worked at the University of Arts London, Worcester University, and Istanbul Gelisim University, where he took on several key administrative roles. He served as Vice-Principal of the Institute of Health Science and President of the Bologna Committee at Istanbul Gelisim University, and as Partnership Manager at Worcester University. These experiences highlight his leadership and ability to drive academic collaborations and international partnerships.
He is currently researching in quantitative finance, with his papers being read by governmental bodies such as the Financial Conduct Authority, with whom he has met to discuss shaping future policies. His research has also been mentioned in prominent publications such as The Guardian, demonstrating his influence in the field.
