Bath Spa University raises nearly £7000 for the British Heart Foundation
Monday, 6 November, 2023The Bath Spa community has raised £6846 this year for the British Heart Foundation. Through a combination of the Student Community Partnership’s (SCP) Pack for Good campaign and permanent donation bins at the University’s Newton Park and Locksbrook campuses, Bath Spa students and staff have donated 489 bags of clothes, electronics, books and other goods to support the British Heart Foundation’s lifesaving work.
In addition to supporting important charity work, the donations also prevent items from ending up in landfill; by donating instead of throwing things out, the University has contributed to keeping more than 19 tonnes of items from going to waste in the city of Bath.
Emma Jakins, Sustainability Coordinator at Bath Spa said:
“As well as our donation points on campus, we also encourage students in the city to donate clothes to the city banks, which are added each year to support the move out period. In addition to our British Heart Foundation bins, the university run clothes swaps every month to prevent clothes from going to waste. We will continue to support BHF throughout the year and our collection points will continue to be provided.”
