Student artworks admired in private view event at Abbey Hotel
Friday, 9 August, 2019Local dignitaries including Councillor Manda Rigby, Deputy Mayor of Bath, and Reverend Canon Guy Bridgewater, Rector of Bath Abbey, recently attended a private event celebrating the work of this year’s Bath Spa University art and design graduates.
The event, held at the Abbey Hotel’s ArtBar, marked the launch of its ‘On the Horizon’ exhibition, showcasing new creations from the University’s fine and graphic art, lino print, knitwear and textiles graduates. The artworks were hand-picked by the hotel’s artist-in-residence, Emma Taylor, from hundreds on display at the University’s annual degree show earlier this summer.
Graduates were joined by their families and friends for the evening, and additional guests including Stella Pirie OBE, Bath Spa University donor, honorary graduate, and former chair of its Board of Governors, as well as local business news journalist Robert Buckland.
For many of the graduates this was the first time they had seen their works of art on show with the option to be purchased, a fitting start to the beginning of their post-university journeys. Well done to the following whose work is currently on display at the ArtBar:
- Lucy Baker
- Chloe Loudon
- Freya Hill
- Hannah Gaskin
- Martha Morrey
- Jess Dyer
- Daisy Reeves
- Niamh Birch
- Georgia Moore
- Georgina Morgan
- Alice Clements
The exhibition is free to enter via the Abbey Hotel and is open to all visitors until 30 September 2019.
