Bath Spa sports teams compete to raise funds for South West charity
Thursday, 16 May, 2019Bath Spa University’s football, rugby and netball teams will compete against each other during a special fundraising sports tournament taking place this May.
The event, happening on Wednesday 22 May at 12 o’clock, will raise funds for regional charity, Julian House which supports socially excluded people and empowers them to build sustainable, independent lives.
“Every year we run an annual rugby v football event - this year we wanted to make it even bigger and better than before,” said Rory Wilson, President of Bath Spa University’s Football Society.
“Traditionally it’s been our men’s rugby team playing our men’s football team and this year we are delighted to add our women's rugby, football and netball teams into the mix.
“Most importantly this year we’ll be raising money for Julian House which we feel is a very worthy cause helping people in the local Bath area and Somerset.
Staff and students are being urged to donate on the JustGiving website. With every £2 donation they will be entered into a raffle with top prizes including seats in the box at a Bath Rugby game, and a reserved VIP table at Revolution in Bath with drinks included.
Rory continued: “The Athletic Union at Bath Spa is a very important student body. We are very much looking forward to bringing everyone together to play in the May tournament - we hope to pull in a big crowd to cheer us all on!”
The games will be played on the afternoon Wednesday 22 May from 12pm until 5pm at the sports pitches. Students and staff are welcome to come along and support.
