SWCTN funding call for data prototypes now open
Monday, 10 August, 2020The South West Creative Technology Network (SWCTN) has opened its new funding call for data prototypes.
The £6.5m government-backed SWCTN project - of which the University’s Centre for Cultural and Creative Industries (CCCI) is a lead partner - aims to expand the use of creative technologies across the south west of England, through three one-year funded programmes around the themes of immersion, automation and data.
In early 2020 it recruited 24 Data Fellows, including two Bath Spa University academics. As a continuation of its year of data, SWCTN is now aiming to fund ideas for prototypes that are brave and distinctive enough to open up the field to new voices and challenge the status quo.
The upcoming research and development programme will run from December 2020 for four months, culminating in a SWCTN data showcase between March and June 2021. It anticipates awarding grants of between £10,000 and £40,000, and encourages applications of all sizes between these limits.
As well as the prototype grant, prototype fellows will take part in a programme of business development workshops; technical, critical and business support; as well as access to professional and peer contacts in the arts, technology and academic sectors.
