Hauser & Wirth celebrates South West graduates with Somerset exhibition
Thursday, 23 July, 2020Contemporary art gallery Hauser & Wirth will host a student-led graduate exhibition in Somerset. With a number of university presentations postponed or cancelled due to the COVID-19 pandemic, the physical exhibition will provide a global platform for recent graduates embarking on creative careers during this challenging period.
The exhibition, entitled “In Real Life”, will feature ten recent graduates each from four regional universities in the South West including: Arts University Bournemouth, Bath Schools of Art & Design, Falmouth University and the University of the West of England.
Natasha Kidd, Course Leader for BA Fine Art at Bath Spa, said, “Our connection with Hauser & Wirth goes from strength to strength and we are thrilled that they have decided to support a number of our students with a strong connection to the area and to the gallery itself with this show. This has been a remarkable time for our final year students.”
The project is part of #artforbetter, and reflects Hauser & Wirth’s longstanding philanthropic framework with plans to extend university partnerships and graduate exhibitions in further locations.
“In Real Life” will be at The Maltings, West End, Bruton, from 29 July – 2 August, and will feature work from Bath Spa graduates Melody Addo, Betsy Bond, Samantha Davies, Kamila Dowgiert, Juliet Duckworth, Louise Hall, Lauren Horrell, Lilith Piper, Madeline Rolt and Connor Vickery-Gearty.
