Senior Lecturer features on London Symphony Orchestra CD
Friday, 29 May, 2020Bath Spa University's Senior Lecturer in Composition, Dr Matthew Sergeant, has had his work featured on a new CD released by the London Symphony Orchestra (LSO).
The new disk, Panufnik Legacies III, is part of an ongoing series of releases by the Orchestra documenting its ongoing commissioning programme, funded by an endowment from the late composer and conductor, Andrzej Panufnik.
Matthew's, tiled piece but today we collect ads, was originally written in 2008 but was revised especially for the recording project last year.
Matthew said: “Written as a series of seven short musical episodes, each section takes up something from the previous and develops it anew. Essentially it’s a musical version of 'the telephone game,' often played at kid’s parties. The title refers to a 1957 exhibition by renowned artists and architects Peter and Alison Smithson.”
The disc has been released on the LSO's own LSO Live! label and is also available on Spotify, Amazon Music, and other streaming platforms.
