Andrew Carr – Bath Spa University

Personal statement

Andrew joined Bath Spa University’s School of Education in 2017, but has worked in education for over 25 years. For much of this time, he has been a secondary school teacher and senior leader.

With a passion for teaching and learning, pedagogy and research, Andrew has developed his skills in enhancing the professional learning of others into a role in Higher Education Initial Teacher Education.

He has been a PGCE lecturer and tutor since 2015 and now leads Bath Spa University’s SCITT PGCE. Andrew’s belief and experience in collaborative partnership and educational networks is central to the work that the SCITT PGCE team engage in, in order to ensure that effective teacher training can be experienced by all trainees in their school-centres around England.

Andrew is a PhD student whose thesis centres around the secondary school curriculum and the impact that this has on English teacher pedagogy and agency.
