Bath Spa University well-represented at Creative Bath Awards

Thursday, 14 June, 2018

Five Bath Spa University students have been shortlisted for this year's Creative Bath Awards, with another providing the design for the Awards themselves.

Amy Barrett, Dave Bone, Jenna Rainey, Jon Ransley and Katie Sims, have each been nominated for the Creative Bath Student Award, which celebrates the creative potential of students and recent graduates in Bath.

Dave is also up for the Creative Bath Photography Award, and Jenna has been named on the Creative Bath Writer Award shortlist.

The trophies for the Awards were designed by second year Joel Matthews, who is studying for a BA in 3D Design. Joel won a competition in conjunction with the University, impressing the judges with his unique design based on the lines and curves of the city of Bath.

Amy is a final year BA Publishing with Creative Writing student. She writes for TechSPARK and volunteers with the British Science Association.

Dave is a final year BA Photography student and commercial photographer, specialising in graphic design and advertising. He has taken photos for environmental organisations and charities, including the Springfield Project and Marine Conservation Society.

Jenna is currently studying for an MA in Travel and Nature Writing. Her poems and articles have been published in a number of poetry anthologies and magazines, and she has written a travel guide titled A Wild Guide to Ireland, which will be published by Wild Things Publishing next Spring.

Second year BA 3D Design student Jon enjoys working within a wide range of disciplines and exploring a diverse set of materials and making processes.

Katie is a Performance Artist, who is in her last year of studying for a BA in Fine Art. She won The Gane Trust Travel Award in 2017, and was shortlisted for The Porthleven Prize this year.

Kate Love, Director of External Relations and Development at Bath Spa University, said: "We are delighted that Amy, Dave, Jenna, Jon and Katie have been shortlisted for the Creative Bath Awards. As a University, we nurture our talented students and help them become the successful creative thinkers who will ensure our city, region, the UK and the world, flourish in the future.

"The Creative Bath Awards celebrate a hugely diverse range of skills and achievements, and we wish all the finalists the very best of luck."

Now in its second year, the Creative Bath Awards - held at Queen Square on Thursday 14 June - shine the spotlight on the best and most successful creative, cultural and tech organisations based in Bath.
