Brief description
The Gane Trust is a charity based in Bristol whose aim is to support people engaged in any aspect of craft, design, and the arts. The Trust was created in memory of Crofton Gane the pioneering furniture designer (1877 - 1967).
The Gane Trust has provided an annual travel award for a student studying at Bath Spa University, School of Art and Design for a number of years. The purpose is to encourage and support a student to travel abroad to study an aspect of design or craftsmanship.

Criteria
The Award is open to students in the first or second year of their undergraduate studies at Bath School of Art and Design.
The student selected for the award must deliver a presentation to peers, staff and trustees and provide a 3000 word written report detailing how their experience has influenced their practice, studies and future career in the Autumn Term following their trip.
The Award will be paid in 2 installments: £800 shall be paid to the student prior to the visit and the balance will be paid when the Trustees have attended a presentation given by the student at the Bath School of Art & Design.
How to apply
Submit a brief synopsis (250 - 500 words) of the proposed tour of study, including an explanation of what you hope to achieve as a result of the visit and how this will impact on your future studies and work.
Applicants will need to submit the online application form (student login required) along with a supporting statement from your tutor or subject/course leader.

How applications are judged
The award winner will be decided by the Heads of the School of Art and School of Design in consultation with course leaders from relevant subjects.
