Judith Holby – Bath Spa University

Personal statement

Judith joined Bath Spa University in 2021 working primarily as an Academic Tutor and Lecturer in Professional Studies and Mathematics on the PGCE Primary and Early Years courses. She also teaches on the Education Studies undergraduate programme.

Prior to working in Initial Teacher Education, Judith worked in a lecturing and leadership role on Early Childhood Studies undergraduate programmes. She taught infants since the mid 90s in rural and inner city areas of deprivation as well as an international school in Budapest.

Judith was recently involved in action research in early maths and emergent writing.

Judith’s national work developing early years leadership enables her to promote the importance of distributed pedagogical leadership and strategies to develop a culture of shared reflective practice and critical reflection from early career to senior leadership. She also champions parent partnership as a key element of working with children and families.
