The Circus

The School of Art and Design has a separate teaching centre at The Circus, Bath, which is home to our Fashion and Textiles students.

Dartmouth Avenue

We have workshop spaces and facilities at Dartmouth Avenue in the Oldfield Park area of Bath, where much of the Creative Arts programme is based.

Burdall's Yard

Burdall's Yard is an experimental arts and performance centre in the heart of Bath. The centre is used as a teaching, rehearsal and performance space and also hosts a number of hugely successful arts events, including Party in the City (part of the Bath Festival).

Oldfield Park theatre workshops

A theatre production centre is located between the Newton Park Campus and Bath city centre at Westmoreland Station Road. The addition of this new facility lets students on our BA (Hons) Acting and BA (Hons) Theatre and Digital Production course to complete practical work in its specialist workshop spaces.

Facilities at this location include:

  • Construction and carpentry workshop
  • Costume workshop
  • Prop making workshop
  • Production Office and Mac Edit Suite
  • Rehearsal studios
  • Breakout spaces
  • Black box performance space


If you’re studying Filmmaking you’ll benefit from being taught at Paintworks in Bristol. The facility offers a large production office, modern edit suites with the latest software, lights and video cameras including the Sony F3 (used on Spike Lee’s Red Hook Summer and This is England 88) and Canon 7D (used on Lena Dunham’s SXSW award winner Tiny Furniture).


Culverhay is a school-based site that is primarily used for the university element of our teacher training programmes within the Institute for Education. The site is also used by the College of Liberal Arts and the Institute for Education's Network for Learning.
