Tuesday, 3 October, 2023

Bath Spa University is delighted to be recognised for intellectual property (IP) and commercialisation in the latest Knowledge Exchange Framework (KEF) assessment.

Produced by Research England, KEF enables universities to understand and improve their knowledge exchange abilities. Through this, businesses and other users can access world-class knowledge and expertise.

Bath Spa University was assessed against seven different perspectives and scored most highly for local growth and regeneration public and community engagement, outperforming the cluster average for IP and commercialisation.

Last month, Bath Spa hosted the prestigious KTP Conference, where over 120 cross-sector KTP Associates working on innovation projects visited the Newton Park campus to attend talks, workshops and networking events themed around storytelling, while also having the opportunity to share valuable share experiences, insights and expertise.

Pro Vice-Chancellor (Research and Enterprise), Professor John Strachan, said:

“Anchored within our local community, we strive to be a positive force both locally, regionally, nationally and globally. We can feel reassured that the KEF data validates that we are a socially minded and inclusive institution. There are further opportunities for development including ensuring that businesses, public and third sector organisations are aware of the many ways in which they can work with the University to access our resources and expertise. As a Gold-Mark Social Enterprise and the Sunday Times University of the Year for Social Inclusion, Bath Spa has strong foundations in equity, community and transformative initiatives."
