Personal statement
Nancy is a Teaching Fellow and Academic Tutor on the School‑Centred Initial Teacher Training (SCITT) PGCE programme at Bath Spa University. She has worked in Initial Teacher Education (ITE) at the university since 2021. Prior to joining the SCITT team, she was a Lecturer on the Primary and Early Years Foundation Stage (EYFS) PGCE, specialising in English and Science.
Before joining Bath Spa University, Nancy spent over 15 years teaching across all primary phases in Inner-London primary schools. She worked for over a decade at an Outstanding Teaching School Alliance (TSA) school, recognised for its innovative and highly effective approaches to teacher training and professional development. During this time, her roles included English Lead and Teacher Mentor, supporting School Direct, GTP and PGCE student teachers.
Nancy supports research activity within the University. Her recent work includes assisting with a project exploring the impact of centralised planning on Primary English ITT trainees, as well as contributing to the Rich Retrieval professional development programme for Key Stage 2 primary science teachers. She is currently undertaking her Master’s in Professional Practice in Higher Education (MAPPHE) at BSU.
