Deborah Bowe – Bath Spa University

Personal statement

Deborah is the Course Developer/Lead for the new BA (Hons) Marketing degree launched in 2023, and the Marketing Subject Pathway Leader. Deborah teaches Marketing at both undergraduate and postgraduate levels.

Deborah has over 20 years of international marketing experience, working at senior management level in companies operating globally, and she is recognised at Member level with the Chartered Institute of Marketing. She is a co-founder of Brand Collab, a branding and marketing consultancy.

Deborah is a firm advocate of ‘Marketing for Good’. Her current research explores issues related to our collective understanding of sustainability in packaging, its role as a market device supporting the positioning of brands and helping consumers towards more sustainable choices. 

She is passionate about bringing the realities of business to the classroom, creating experiential learning opportunities for enhancing the student experience. She has led on the design of the following modules for the new degree:

  • The Principles of Marketing (L4)
  • Brand Management and Communication in the Digital Age (L4)
  • Digital Marketing (L5)

Previous contributions to curriculum design include leading on the development of the ‘In Practice’ applied learning/employability focused modules (2019), which now run across all business subject degree courses at Bath Business School.

She is currently the Business School's ‘Social Media Champion’ and runs the social channels for the school, as well as mentoring placement students in Semester 2 to learn about and collaborate on content creation and management of the feed.
